Newstead Christian School Kindergarten is a welcoming place of wonderment where the children are immersed in a safe, loving and nurturing environment from the moment they walk through the doors.
We endeavour to teach to each child’s strength, engaging them in meaningful lines of inquiry drawn from their interests and curiosities. The children are encouraged to ask questions about their world and we journey together to find the answers, nurturing a passion for learning.
An important element of our learning is our weekly Bush Discovery Program where the students from Kinder-Grade 1 take to the bush one afternoon a week with a full bush exploration day once a term. This is a fantastic opportunity for the students to explore new opportunities, take risks, notice changes in their environment through regular visits, make discoveries and develop new lines of inquiries which they can take back to the classroom.
Building connections is a vital component of the Kinder year and our students form relationships with not only their peers but also with students right up to Grade 10. This unique aspect of our program allows children to develop the skills of engaging with a multitude of age groups as the older students care for the younger ones.
Through play the children learn the art of collaboration and develop skills in communication, listening, problem solving, negotiating, conflict resolution and team work along with developing a respect for other people’s ideas and opinions.
